Jake Davies

Facilitating technological change is very rewarding, the opportunity to identify business gaps and implement improvements first-hand is very fulfilling. I actively seek opportunities to learn new technologies and recognize challenges associated with technological gaps. I love sharing conceptual ideas and acquiring insight from colleagues. I strongly believe for organisations to flourish, the ability to share preliminary ideas with internal stakeholders and empower their creative and innovative employees is critical to success.

June 2019 - Present

GIS Officer / Technical Support Officer

City of Charles Sturt

Working at the City of Charles Sturt expanded my knowledge in the integration of GIS with the City of Charles Sturt’s core software applications. By understanding this integration and the organisational structure, I was able to identify opportunities and implement improvements to expand business functions and customer service initiatives. I created a range of stored procedures in SQL resulting in improved asset management and visualization of a range of services including Council’s operational and capital works. I re-designed the layout and appearance of the corporate spatial viewer (Intra-maps) improving user functionality and ease-of-use. I was also involved in the preliminary design of Charles Sturt’s Open Data website. I was an integral part of the organization’s roll-out of computers. Having accomplished over 50 computer roll-outs in the space of 2 months whilst maintaining core role functions. I provided training to new and existing staff in the use of GIS software and its applications. Feedback provided was very positive in my execution of the training and my effective procedural documentation.
